Farm Safety for Young Children

This is the time to harvest crops, which means lots of farm work to do. If you are a family man and you got the children around your farmland then you are committed to keeping them safe while you are busy with your daily tasks. We are talking about farm safety for children.

We know that you already heard about it like heat illness, sun damage, protecting clothing and accessories, dangerous materials, etc. We can only believe that you’re guarding yourself, which by the way sets excellent examples for your kids. Kids got questions and habit to follow their elders. As their activity already showing you how much they are willing to help you on the farm but you are worried about their safety.


You can make them happy by giving them age-appropriate tasks and observe them display a task efficiently several times before granting them to go solo. Supervise them appropriately, support them to ask inquiries, make sure their accessories and workspace are safe to practice and work in.


We heard in the news that every year, more than 100 kids are killed and nearly 10,000 are seriously wounded on the U.S. farms. The highest rate of wounds involves kids younger than 10 years old, and you may find yourself focused on your work and less worried about your kids when they’re using their summer holidays solely playing outdoors. But the leading causes of damage to non-working kids on farms are being run over, sinking, falling from rises, machinery involvement and falling off of or being hit or squashed by animals.


Farm Safty Tips to follow -


Here are some farm safety tips to follow to keep children safe on the farm.


  • Install passive natural barriers – around water ventures, animals, and tools/vehicle compounds.

  • Use safe storage. Put away tools and sharp objects, and lock away all chemicals.

  • You can build a safe play zone departed from the farm worksite by a bar and tell your kids what fields are off-limits.

  • Keep yourself away from taking your children on farm machinery, Don't practice rides on beds, containers or in your lap. You need to be focused.

  • Keep guns locked away and ammo should be kept in a different place.

  • Remove ALL keys when a farm machine is on standby, disengage hydraulics, and put your farm equipment in lowest condition.


Recognize that these little souls are your descendants. Protect them facing any danger on the farm so that they may exist to help you fully on upcoming years or days.
